ABOUT GHOSTS

Ghost Divers

When we think about ghosts, we imagine spirits lurking in the darkness, representing fear of death and the unknown. Soon or later, in the darkness of a cave or in the ocean, we all have to face our fears, our ghosts… we will find out who we really are. Only by reaching our limits, we can be comfortable where everybody else is uncomfortable and become leaders. Masters of our fears, unseen by most, we fluctuate into dark waters like ghosts.

“Ghost Divers: leading in the darkness!”

I offer technical cave training, guided cave dives and cavern tours for recreational divers. I operate from Playa del Carmen in Mexico, conducting my activities in the cave systems of the Riviera Maya, from Puerto Morelos to Tulum. My dedicated logistic and didactic support are the perfect solution for small groups of divers, who look for an intense experience and personal coaching. I will help you during both training and fun dives to focus on your performance and learn from yourself.

Own your dive, you are the protagonist!

My story

Davide Marchetti, founder of Ghost Divers

I was born in Italy the 15th March 1983 and I started freediving at the age of four. I realized pretty soon that diving was my passion!

In 1998 I did my Open Water course and after many different experiences in 2009 I became a PADI instructor. I worked in Italy, Maldives and Egypt,  while making experience teaching kids to train professionals.

In 2011 I moved to Mexico, where I achieved my goals of managing a dive center and becoming a cave diver. In 2013 I quit my manager position to work as cave guide, because I realized that my place is underwater!

My career as IANTD instructor started in 2016 and keeps going…

Diving is the best way I can express myself and teaching allows me to share this passion with you!

My philosophy

This is how I work on myself and on my students:

  • Develop the right attitude!

Why do you dive? Do you focus on escaping your problems or connecting with yourself? Underwater we must be honest with ourselves and our teammates, because they count on us and deserve our maximum effort! Motivation and commitment affect stress management, therefore, determining if an emergency will escalate into an accident.

  • Reach high performance!

How do you order your thoughts? Find your own way to understand and remember the importance of every procedure, as its execution. Your skills and equipment will evolve with your mindset, while retaining compatibility with other divers. Plan every step of your dive and have a reason for everything you do. Always take notes for your debriefing. Only realistic training prepares you to handle real situations!

Motivate and discipline yourself, set your own standards!

Proper training

I teach IANTD courses because I agree that attitude is one of the most important criteria to evaluate students. Only if you are motivated and disciplined, you can perform effectively.

To work on your attitude and performance we will do the following:

  • We will analyze how psychology affects every aspect of diving, therefore making the difference between managing an emergency and having an accident.
  • I will share with you my personal way to maintain control and take decisions, during any kind of dive and under any condition.
  • You will learn standard safety procedures and aquire new skills. It’s crucial to be compatible with any technical diver, everywhere in the world.
  • You will create your own way to dive, finding the balance between expressing yourself and being fair to your team mates, especially about safety and efficiency.
